Banning Downtown Revitalization

The Arroyo Group is leading land use and open space strategies for a Downtown Revitalization and Complete Streets Plan for The City of Banning. The plan consisted of a design process focused on improvements to the public and private realm. With the engagement of local business owners, the team developed a vision that put their considerations forward to produce a plan that brings connectivity through the Downtown Banning area with the use of alleys, passthroughs and a variety of open spaces. Gateway and wayfinding elements create an identity for the area , complementing a walkable human-scale environment. After completing a market assessment of the area a range of mixed-use and residential prototypes were studied to find the most viable project types for the plan as well as parking solutions to support the local development.

The City-owned southeast site of the Downtown proposes a large commercial corner and open space for the community to engage as well as hotel, conference space and new residential development.
